Name:

USACE Braddock Gated Dam Gates & Digital Control Systems

Location:

Braddock, PA

Facts:

This project was the first phase of a federal project to modernize the locks and dams on the Monongahela River, replacing a 100-year-old fixed crest dam with a new gated navigation dam. Wellington’s portion included a total turnkey electrical solution for the renovation of the existing twin lock system and the construction of the new precast gated dam. This project resulted in a number of pioneering milestones in civil and marine engineering, and it was highlighted on the History Channel’s Modern Marvels in a one-hour documentary of the history of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
