The Fort Pitt Tunnel and Bridge is the main connection between the South Hills and downtown Pittsburgh, with over 150,000 commuters daily. The largest portions of the multi-phased project were awarded to Wellington, including the total electrical renovation of the tunnel and installation of ITS infrastructure for future implementation of CCTV and traffic management assets. Other elements include wireless communication stations, navigation lighting system, fire alarm and carbon monoxide systems, maintenance and protection of traffic, fiber optic cable and management system, ventilation systems, and installation of CCTV.
