Wallens Ridge State Prison is a supermax penitentiary housing 1,200 inmates. Located in Big Stone Gap Virginia, it is situated in the mountainous western portion of the state. Wellington provided the electrical systems for this multi-building prison. Numerous site conditions such as daily blasting, extreme weather conditions, and the long, winding roadway leading to the facility presented complexities that required consideration well before our company’s on-site presence. With proper planning and execution, Wellington completed the institution on schedule.
