UPMC East was designed and constructed to provide world-class medical care to the Monroeville suburb of Pittsburgh. Wellington’s experience in supplying power to over 1,500 hospital beds in Pennsylvania over the past decade made our company a natural selection for UPMC East’s various and complex systems. Wellington provided the primary electrical substation, redundant and uninterruptable power systems, primary and secondary power distribution, all lighting, fire alarm systems, nurse call systems, control applications for each operating and medical imaging area, fiber optic and data networks, and the integrated building automation system for the facility.

The project received LEED Silver status and was the first major healthcare project in the Pittsburgh area to employ virtual construction using Building Information Modeling (BIM).
