Portland General Electric selected Wellington Energy as the deployment firm to upgrade a new generation of Smart Meters in 2010. Over 825,000 customers in PGE’s 4,000 square mile coverage area received a smart meter.

Wellington Energy’s success on this project was noted by Utlimetrics, a global trade association dedicated to promoting and advancing utility technology and automation. Wellington was awarded the trade association’s first AMI/Smart Grid Excellence Award, demonstrating superior achievement in innovation.

In 2014, Portland General Electric once again selected Wellington to exchange 70,000 meters through the year’s end. A veteran staff of 20 Wellington meter specialists returned to Portland to deliver the project.
