Initially constructed in 1924, the Liberty Tunnels are side-by-side tunnels providing a main point of access to the City of Pittsburgh. When renovations of the tunnel were necessary, the project was divided into three phases spanning a three year period.
Due to high traffic volumes, closure of the tunnels during all three phases of construction in which Wellington was involved was not permitted. Wellington successfully completed the electrical package in each phase in the constricting hours of 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM on a nightly basis.
